We’re getting some seriously beachy vibes from this adorable Rebecca Minkoff tote… here’s to Spring and beyond!

Running on two hours of sleep, a 9am flight to Asia the next day, and a baby on board, Rebecca Minkoff still sounds like a breath of fresh air during her Snapette interview. She has the kind of voice you’d hear from someone who just had a day at the spa. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. She just wrapped up a successful 2012 runway show at Lincoln Center where she casted models, performed fittings, managed the run of show (which is matching each model to numerous outfits), and arranged all seating (“so political, it is worse than giving a wedding”). All this while she is prepping for expansion in Asia and giving TLC to the little man in her life, her one year old son. Rebecca Minkoff is the powerhouse behind the brand that has effortlessly identified itself with girls who are “the downtown romantic.”
Check out Rebecca Minkoff’s trend alerts for spring, her plans to expand the RM corp., and how she believes Snapette impacts fashion!
Snapette: What trends have you seen for this year? How have you embraced the trends you’ve seen and made them unique to your brand?
RM: A lot of girls are combining prints and are doing interesting color combinations that a year or two ago might have been scary. We’ve put that trend into the bags via color combos and a lot of mixed prints.
Snapette: What is your future outlook and where do you see most opportunity?
RM: We are really growing our shoe and apparel and want to grow it as big as the handbags. We want to be a full lifestyle brand; the goal would be a full offering.
Snapette: Does that include home goods?
RM: Definitely
Snapette: How do you see mobile and social media impacting fashion?
RM: I think it affects fashion because now more than ever you can be in direct contact with your customer. You can know what she is doing; know what she likes and what she doesn’t like. It’s an opportunity that gets so much information and really focuses more on strengthening your relationship with your consumer.
Snapette: Why do you use the Snapette app?
RM: I think [Snapette] is exciting because the most positive opinion on what movie to see or what book to read is from your friends. And the fact that you can do it through shopping is a really great idea. I always ask my friends what they like so I don’t know why other people wouldn’t want to do the same while they’re out shopping.
Snapette: How do you see Snapette helping your brand and business?
RM: I think the more people that are referring consumers to stores that are selling our products will only grow our business and make the stores feel validated for choosing and taking us in the first place.
