Sally LaPointe & The Man Repeller

To kick fashion week off, we attended the Sally LaPointe show. While the designer has been known to design outrageous looks for Lady Gaga, the Spring 2013 show was sleek and sophisticated.

From this….

To this!

The sleek look was inspired by, of all things, Russian submarine bases: “Last season I took a little time off and started photographing natural elements, looking at rock formations and natural marbles and quarries and I came across this submarine base in Russia. It [encompassed] everything I wanted to portray this season. My collection was a play on man made versus nature made, hard and soft.”

The pieces were elegantly engineered in leather. The designer explains, “I love leather and I really challenge myself to think of leather in way you can wear it in the summer. There’s a lot of cut outs, it’s very soft, and not too restricting.”

In other news, Leandra of The Man Repeller was there! We have a major girl crush on her, and snapped photos of her like a creeper while she was watching the show:

The Man Repeller is in the green!

Leandra picked up a pair of green shorts from the runway and featured them in her post here:

Our Marketing & Business Development Manager, Caitlin, was so stoked to meet Leandra. When we say “we have a girl crush on Leandra” what we really mean is “Caitlin has a major girl crush on Leandra.” The whole man repelling philosophy is often the gospel of Caitlin’s outfits- she likes to show up to the office in an old man pajama silk suit and heels.

See the joy in Caitlin’s face next to Leandra at the Sally LaPointe show (it was at this point that Caitlin stopped being a creepy old man appropriate of her pajama suit and actually approached Leandra instead of snapping photos of her from a distance).
